SUCESOS MECHANICAL HAND WIND

TRAVEL BACK IN TIME WITH A WATCH INSPIRED BY A PHILIPPINE GEM TO THE WORLD.

It is not common knowledge today that, throughout his journey overseas in the 19th century, Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal had a companion that allowed him to keep track of the time – a wristwatch.

As a timepiece of the Dr. Rizal, recreated to fit the modern times, the Sucesos Mechanical Hand Wind is the best piece to talk about history and heritage while keeping excellent time.

Limited to 158 pieces for the retail market. Now available for pre-order until 31 August 2019 at an exclusive price.

A TIMELESS CLASSIC

The timepiece is perfect for the heritage enthusiast and the old soul with its 19th century-inspired case and wire lugs. A special hinged double case back is also featured on the watch paying tribute to horological tradition that was prevalent in pocket watches of the time. The timepiece has a low-domed sapphire glass and a clean enamel dial that will stand the test of time. The Sucesos has a water resistance of up to 5ATM or 50 meters.

PRECISELY DESIGNED FOR LUXURY.

An ETA 2801-2 movement is used in the Sucesos timepiece keeping an accuracy of 4 Hertz (Hz) or 28,800 vibrations per hour (VPH). The Swiss manual winding movement has the standard hour, minute and central seconds hands. The Standard Power Reserve is 50 hours when fully wound. ETA movements are also used as a base in other luxury brands such as Breitling, Longines, Oris, and more.

THE STORY OF THE WATCH.

Through the good relations of Ibarra’s founder with the Order of the Knights of Rizal (KOR) and Rizal’s descendants, Ibarra was able to recreate the hero’s timepiece. Although its aesthetic was common for a dress watch during his time, Rizal’s watch is very unique today. Its design is very similar to those of Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, and Girard-Perregaux during the 19th century. The actual watch was used as an inspiration in designing the Sucesos Mechanical Hand Wind.

The name “Sucesos” came from Dr. Rizal’s second published book – an annotated version of Antonio de Morga’s “Sucesos de Las Islas Filipinas”. This book is the first historical reference of the events in the Philippines, and made Dr. Rizal the first Filipino historian.

BEYOND A TIMEPIECE.

The timepiece is also made to support the Order of the Knights of Rizal (OKOR) – a non-sectarian, non-partisan, non-racial civic, patriotic, and cultural organization chartered under Republic Act 646 by President Elpidio Quirino in 1951. Ibarra is supporting the OKOR in their Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines (JRMSP) Awards Program that recognizes young Filipinos who best epitomize the qualities of academic excellence and student leadership of our National Hero and Martyr as well as emulate his lofty ideals, high principles, civic-mindedness, and courageous nationalism.
